First of all Hello! :)
Nice looking Z! Got more pics of it?
My Name is Cory Miller and I have a 280Z with no floor rot!
I have had 6 other (70-74) Zs and finally have a FI one. :) The age old
problem is the bumpers need replacing and new ones from Nissan will run
me including sit rail, ext.s, Rear ledge over $1300.- Now I can get the
fiberglass kit from Motorsports of CA for $465 but the bumpers have intergrated
air dams that I think are ugly and detract from the Z essence.
Soooo, do you have any other Ideas???
Also, just blew something, head gasket, hopefully, after warms ups, antifreeze
gets steamed out the exhast.
Sooo I have a 1983 ZX turbo motor on the hoist, but I need a new turbo;
mines toast!
Turbo-Toast :)
Any pointers?
Your car inspires me forward. Thinking about the $$$ stops me dead in my
tracks, So thanks for the site!

Hi Cory, Doc here, sorry to hear that you sound like you
blew the head gasket. It is normal to have that sort of thing happen when
an older engine gets "Run" with a new owner. Be careful to check
the head in the water jacket area probably in the
vicinity of # 6 cylinder. Pull the spark plugs all out and then crank the
engine over. If the water is in the two center cylinders then you can expect
that the head has a warp. Even if you are going to exchange the engines
do this test first to determine the extent of the damage. Also, spray oil
into the cylinders after cranking the water out so there will not be major
damage to the internal components.
Item # 2, the bumper situation. Yes the one from Motorsport may not suit your particular cosmetic desire so there is something that you can do. Look at the picture and color in the air dam black, so that it will contrast from the bumper area. There are great advantages in the air dam for the stability at speed too.
Item # 3, if you are going to install the turbo motor, know that
you should install the ECCS Computer too. Otherwise there are no designed
compatible electronic controls with this engine swap. I have access to
upgrade turbos that have a better spool
ratio with an increased size impeller.
Item # 4, JOIN ZONC! Z Owners of Northern California!
Send me a fax # and I will send you a membership application, or asnail
mail one and I will get an app out to you.
I hope that this will help you.......
