Hi Robin, Doc here, the wheels are Prime Star brand and the tires are Bridestone RE 940 225x50x16's. They are on a zero offset as I remember and there is no flare on the fenders. I rolled the inner fender well up to give the adequate clearance required to even use my snow cables since I live in the 4000' + elevation and get plenty of the White Stuff. There are many newer types of tires in the 16" range that will give you the upgrade potential and modern technology, and the prices are pretty good too. It seems like there are getting to be fewer and fewer good 14" tires available for the "Z". remember to go and have the tire shop get the correct fitment too. My "Z" has the ST lowering springs that lowers the car about 1-1 1/2" and the strut cartridges are Tokico Illumina's. The car is stiff, but with the advantage of the adjustable struts the ride is very good.
I hope that this can clarify your questions.

Noticed the picture of your beautiful 240Z on the web site http://www.zonc.org/Tech_Link/ArchiveFile.html. What size wheels/tires are those? What brand of wheels?

I've been told that to update my 280Z, I should put on 16x7 wheels with 11mm offset and 4 bolt (4-100?) pattern, fitted with 225/50/16 tires. Does this sound right to you? Do I have other options if I don't want to replace or modify the original hubs, or use a bunch of spacers, or flair the wheel wells, etc. etc., but want a more modern update to the car that will allow me to take advantage of some of today's more high performance tires?

Thanks.
Robin
