Donald, Doc here...I think that it is about time to replace
the ignition points and condenser in your distributor. Please replace the
spark plugs too with NGK or ND brand ones. With this done, you should be
able to have the old girl running again. My advice would be to adjust the
valves too, since the intake valves get tight after a period of time, which
is about 10-12,000 miles maintenance interval.........I hope that this helps
you............

I have a '71 240Z that I bought recently. It was running fine - would start
right up and idle nicely. After driving it for 45 minutes last weekend,
at the end of the trip, it stalled at a red light. It started back up but
would not idle. I had to rev the engine or it would die. Now it is reluctant
to start, and will not idle at low RPM. If I don't give it alot of throttle
it cuts out. Then when I try to restart it, it wont start.
This car has not been driven much in the last 3 or 4 years. Does anyone
have any ideas? I recently changed the spark plugs, and am using the stock
SU carbs.
Thanks,
Don
