So are you ready for some "High Speed Meditation"? Recently there has been interest expressed by a number of ZONC members concerning "track days", "auto cross", etc .. I was asked if I would assist in providing some information to make ZONC members aware of upcoming events for this. My plan is to provide information and details for upcoming events that offer an opportunity for ZONC member participation, these will be added to the ZONC calendar. Additionally I will share some past "lessons learned" to help you understand what to do in preparation for a "track / auto cross event" and also what to expect one you arrive. Bear in mind that there may be some variation from group to group so I will generalize and you will need to review the rules, etc .. for events you plan to do prior to signing up.
Fellow ZONC'er Alvin Gogineni, better known as "The Alvinator' is currently leading the points for Z Car Garage's (ZCG) monthly Wednesday night drag racing series at Infineon Raceway. Alvin has been consistent and his awesome Roadster has run flawlessly. At the last event Alvin made it to the semi-finals recording a best time of 15.681 @ 88.58 mph, unfortunately he broke out and lost, but none the less it was a great effort. Datsun/Nissan cars showing up for ZCG's monthly drags have included twin turbo 350Z, TT 300ZX, supercharged G35 coupe and NA 350Z's. If this sounds like a good time, and you have a free Wednesday night, a visit to watch or participate in this event is worth consideration. Watch the ZONC Calendar for upcoming events.
Green Flag Driving Association will conduct two events in September 2005. (1) Sept 5&6 at Laguna Seca and (2) Sept 17&18 at Thunderhill. These both should be fun to either participate in or watch. I understan there have been changes to the Laguna Seca track since I was there for the Marque Madness event so I'll be interested to see the new layout while at the Historic Races. Sept 5 and 6 (Sat/Sun) - Green Flag will hold a track event at Infineon Raceway. Green Flag conducts a well organized event with an emphasis on safety and fun.
